Course Description

Confidence in God / Psalms: Course Three

The book of Psalms has served as the hymnbook and prayerbook of God’s people from ancient times and on into the present. Known as the Psalter, this collection of Holy Spirit–inspired poetry captures the highs and lows of life. The psalms are powerful prayers, guiding us into honest communication with God.  They validate our doubts, passions, fears, and longings and show us how to draw near to God in our struggles. This Bible study organizes the psalms thematically, making it easier to grasp their main ideas and apply them to your own conversations with God.

This is the third course of a five-course series exploring the book of Psalms.

Louis grew up hearing about Community Bible Study from his mother, who served for many years in CBS. Later in life, Louis served on the CBS Board of Trustees and then as a local class leader. After college and a short stint with an internet startup in the mid 1990s, Louis joined the Navy SEALs, beginning a journey in national security. Later, he served with the intelligence community and then as one of its overseers in the US Senate. Thereafter, Louis started his own consulting company, and today he advises both industry and the government on innovations where they intersect.

Louis has traveled in over 150 countries, he speaks a few languages, and he studies the Scriptures in the original Hebrew and Greek. He's an elder in his church, and he regularly swims, skydives, rides motorcycles, and mentors men in various circles. Louis lives in Vienna, Virginia, with his wife, his youngest son, and their cavalier Charlie while their two other sons attend college.Show less

After marrying her high school sweetheart, Brent, she traveled with him as they lived in multiple cities for Brent’s professional career in the National Basketball Association. After 11 years in the NBA, Brent and Marcy retired to Enid, Oklahoma, with their four children. Marcy has passed down her love for the Lord and passion for Bible study to them and her three grandchildren. She serves as a Teaching Director in Community Bible Study and is also currently serving as a trainer on the Teaching Director Training Team.
