  • CBS Global Online Protection Policy for Minors and Vulnerable Adults

The Global Online Protection Policy outlines requirements to provide a safe and comfortable environment for Community Bible Study (CBS) groups serving minors or vulnerable adults.

This policy covers all online groups as well as all CBS Connect groups whether they meet online or in-person.

        Guidelines

        • Minors may join an online group with parental consent authorized upon registration.
        • Two group leaders are required in any group that serves minors or vulnerable adults.
        • Only one group leader is required in a group serving adults that also includes minors if the parents of the minors also attend.
        • All group leaders serving minors or vulnerable adults will be vetted according to the applicable ministry policy prior to serving in their roles.
        • Both leaders shall be part of any communication with one or more minor participants.
        • Where the platform permits, all chats will be preserved and available for the group coach or shepherd to review.
        • Group coaches or shepherds may review communication at any time for the groups they care for.
        • Group coaches or shepherds should be invited to group meetings any time they request it.
        • A group intended for vulnerable adults will follow these same guidelines.
        • A group leader may not meet alone with a CBS participant who is a minor

        Group Expectations

For everyone to be comfortable during CBS group discussion, participants can expect:

        • Discussion to focus on Scripture and what is learned from the passage.
        • Participants will listen to and respect one another’s answers.
        • Discussion will emphasize those topics that unify the body of Christ rather than divide.
        • Discussion will avoid topics of politics, churches, and denominational differences.
        • Relax and engage in the conversation as you are comfortable.
        • We take the comfort of our participants seriously. If any situation arises that makes you uncomfortable, please contact your group leader first. If you are uncomfortable discussing the matter with your group leader or the matter is unresolved, you are welcome to contact answers@communitybiblestudy.org with a subject line of “Online Protection Report” which will result in a response from a senior leader of the ministry as quickly as possible, regardless of the cause.

This information will also be stored in your personal account in the CBS Connect platform to view at a later time if needed.
